Modern Art

Today is our last art class for the semester! The theme, Modern Art, has taken the kids beyond the Realism of the Renaissance into the strange worlds of Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism, Fauvism ("wild beast" painters!), and today... Surrealism!

Each week the kids examined the work of an example artist, heard about the ideas and influences of their movement, and integrated key characteristics into their own art. Here one of our students paints a still-life, inspired by the flat shapes of Paul Cezanne, a Post-impressionist.
