Field Trip to the Airfield

Our team had some guests this week, and the learning center was treated to a spontaneous field trip! The pilot of the visiting SIL/MAF plane came and taught the kids about how airplanes fly, and he also explained the process of becoming a pilot. Afterwards we all went over to the airfield and saw the workings of the flaps, rudder, etc. firsthand. Each of the kids even got a chance to sit in the cockpit! It was a fabulous introduction to flight and aviation in the missions context. The kids were glowing; I won't be surprised if we start hearing about some new career aspirations!
