Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

This semester the older kids have been improving their drawing skills with instruction based on Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. They began with lots of drawing exercises that helped focus on seeing accurately. For example, they copied a picture that was upside down, so they could focus on the lines instead of the image they were drawing. Another time they drew the wrinkles on their hands... without looking at the paper! The kids may have thought some of the exercises were crazy, but the work has paid off. Recently the class went outside to draw buildings. The kids did very well measuring proportion and angles to see and draw accurately.
